PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rutgers University running back Ray Rice earned his third BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honor this season when the conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday. Rice was also named The Sporting News College Football Player of the Week for his career day in the win over Pitt.
In Rutgers' 20-10 win at Pittsburgh on Oct. 21, Rice carried the ball 39 times for a career-high 225 yards and one touchdown. It was his third 200-yard rushing performance of the season and the fourth of his career. Rice's yardage was the third-best single-game total in RU history and put him over the 1,000-yard mark (1,124) for the second consecutive season. He is just the third Scarlet Knight player to accomplish that feat.
Rice is the first player in Rutgers history to be named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times in a single-season.
