Gymnasts Fall to Maryland, Pittsburgh

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Rutgers University gymnastics team (6-6, 1-4 EAGL) scored 191.050 points to finish third at Maryland on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Comcast Pavilion. Pittsburgh was the third team competing at the meet.
Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA) was RU's top performer in both the uneven bars and vault. Northcutt posted a 9.700 to finish in third place on the bars and took eighth on the vault, also scoring a 9.700.
Leading the Scarlet Knights in their other two events was junior Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA), who finished fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.750 and tied for fourth place on the balance beam with a 9.600. Johnson also took fourth in the all-around with a combined score of 38.575.
Junior Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ) tied for sixth place on the beam, scoring a 9.575, while senior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) finished in a tie for eighth with a 9.525.
Rutgers will return to Piscataway for its final regular-season home meet against Towson, Rhode, Island, Bowling Green and Bridgeport on Friday, Feb. 25, at 7:00 p.m.
