Rutgers Announces 2006 Football Schedule

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers University football team will face a 12-game schedule in 2006 that features six home games at Rutgers Stadium and includes a minimum of two nationally televised contests.
The Scarlet Knights, coming off their appearance in the Insight Bowl in December 2005, will open the season at North Carolina on Sept. 2, before returning home for three consecutive home games, including the Rutgers Stadium opener on Sept. 9 against Illinois.
Rutgers begins play in the BIG EAST Conference on Sept. 30 when it travels to South Florida. Following a bye week, the Scarlet Knights will play at Navy (Oct. 14) and at Pittsburgh (Oct. 21) before returning home to face Connecticut (Oct. 28).
Rutgers will host Louisville on Nov. 9 as part of ESPN’s Thursday Night package. The Scarlet Knights travel to Cincinnati on Nov. 18, and host Syracuse in their home finale at Rutgers Stadium on Nov. 25. Rutgers concludes the regular season at West Virginia on Dec. 2, a game that will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.
The Scarlet Knights have one remaining game to schedule, which will be at Rutgers Stadium on Sept 23. Game times and complete television information will be released at a later date.
