Stringer Keynote Speaker at Rutgers-Camden Commencement
May 19 | Women's Basketball
CAMDEN, NJ - Rutgers-New Brunswick women's basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer served as the keynote speaker at Rutgers-Camden Commencement exercises May 19 at the Tweeter Center.
Stringer challenged the nearly 800 graduates to confront the great issues facing our nation and the world as a whole, as well as the individual questions of career and future. She shared her own experiences as a young graduate, and the fear of both failure and the unknown. Stringer challenged the graduates to confront and challenge their fears, to risk failure in order to attain success, and to be willing to 'pay the price' in order to achieve their dreams. The perception of ourselves and our circumstances shape our actions, and Stringer asked the graduates to use their vision, energy, passion, determination, courage and convictions to perceive the world as a place where they can and will make a difference, to dream the big dreams and then make them a reality. After all, if the world is to change, Stringer asked each graduate, "if not you, then who?"
