Rutgers' Recruiting Class Ranked Third by Hoopgurlz.com

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers women's basketball 2006-2007 recruiting class has been ranked third nationally by Hoopgurlz.com. Previously, the group of incoming Scarlet Knight freshmen was rated second nationally by Blue Star.
RU's five-member group -- DelaQuese 'Dee Dee' Jernigan (East Chicago, IN), Rashidat Junaid (Atco, NJ), Myia McCurdy (Cincinnati, OH), Epiphanny Prince (New York, NY) and Brittany Ray (Bronx, NY) - mark the Scarlet Knights' third consecutive top-15 class (2003-2004 recruits ranked third by the All Star Girls Report, 2004-2005 recruits ranked 13th by Blue Star) and their third top-five group in the last six years (2000-2001 class ranked first by the Women's Basketball News Service). Prince was rated the 10th-best prospect nationally by Scout.com, Jernigan was 20th, McCurdy was 21st, Ray was 44th and Junaid was 45th, making RU the only school to land five top-50 recruits for the 2006-2007 campaign.
USC's class was rated the top group by Hoopgurlz.com, followed by Stanford and Rutgers. Baylor was fourth, ahead of Connecticut, Duke, N.C. State, Georgia, Texas and Xavier to round out the top 10.
No. 9/9 Rutgers posted a 27-5 overall record last season, advancing to the regional semifinals of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. The Scarlet Knights compiled a perfect 16-0 mark in BIG EAST Conference regular-season play to win their second straight outright BIG EAST regular-season crown.
