PISCATAWAY, NJ - Robert "Bob" Morton, a two-time letterwinner for the Rutgers football team, died in Texas on Tuesday of stomach cancer. He was 54-years-old.
Morton, who came to Rutgers from Prospect Park, PA., played left tackle for the Scarlet Knights, earning letters in 1972 and 1973. Morton was a member of an offensive line that helped pave the way for All-East tailback J.J. Jennings, who tallied over 2600 yards and scored 30 TDs in those two seasons.
Morton's oldest son, Bob, currently plays on the offensive line at Notre Dame.
