Huhnerkoch Leads RU Women at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. -The Rutgers women's golf team placed 12th at the Dartmouth Invitational Sept. 16 and 17. Senior Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, Minn.) led the team, taking sixth overall with a combined score of 152. The tournament was played at Hanover Country Club, a par-72 course.
Harvard won the event, posting a team-score of 599, while Columbia and St. John's took second and third, respectively, with scores of 620 and 621. Rutgers posted a team score of 664 in the two-day invitational.
On Sept. 16, Huhnerkoch shot a 75 on the par-72 course to lead the Scarlet Knights. Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, N.J.) finished with an 82 in the first round, while Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, Ariz.) posted a score of 86. Jen Rudy (Berlin, Conn.) had a first-round score of 93, while Stephanie Yastrub (Lake Grove, N.Y.) shot a 95.
In the second round, Huhnerkoch again posted Rutgers' lowest score with a 77 to finish the tournament with a combined score of 152, while Braswell finished with an 81, giving her a score of 163 on the weekend. Fowler shot an 84 on day two of the tournament, finishing with a 170 on the weekend, and Rudy and Yastrub finished with scores of 93 and 95, respectively. Rudy posted a score of 179 in the invitational, while Yastrub finished the weekend with a score of 189.
Rutgers will travel to State College, Penn. this weekend to compete in the Penn State Invitational Friday, Sept. 22 through Sunday, Sept. 24.
