Scarlet Knights Place 13th at Nittany Lion Women's Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The Rutgers women's golf team finished 13th with a 1057 (354-343-360) total at the Nittany Lion Women's Invitational, played September 31 to October 1 at the Penn State Golf Course. Junior Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, Minn.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 257 (88-84-85) on the par 72, 6300-yard course.

Freshman Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah), who led the team in its first event of the season, placed 65th with a 261 (90-83-88) total. Freshman Jeanne Waters (Sayville, N.Y.) placed tied for 66th with a 262 score (86-83-93), while freshman Terry Grandis (East Patchogue, N.Y.) and senior Jen Rudy (Berlin, Conn.) finished tied for 69th with 278 totals. Seventy-three student-athletes competed in the 14-team tournament.
Waters was one of only four players to record an eagle in the tournament.
Princeton won the tournament with a 910 (302-302-306) score, 15 strokes ahead of second place Maryland (308-309-308=925). The host Nittany Lions finished in the show position with a 935. William and Mary's Laura Bayaird won the individual crown with a seven-over 223 (75-73-75) performance. Only one round was shot under par in the tournament, with Princeton's Susanah Aboff shooting a 71 in the opening round.
The Scarlet Knights return to the links at the ECAC Invitational, October 6-7 in Williamsburg, Va.
