Rutgers Wrestling Competes in Intrasquad Red & Black Match

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Rutgers wrestling program took its first step under new head coach Scott Goodale with the Red & Black Match on Friday, Nov. 2, at the College Ave. Gym. Twenty wrestlers competed against each other in their first live action of the season.
"I thought the kids competed hard," said Goodale. "It is difficult to really be wide open in your approach because you are competing against someone you train with everyday. I thought our conditioning was fine and I felt the match was necessary to put our kids in a competitive situation before the season started."
The following wrestlers earned decisions in their respective weight classes:
125 - Paul Grogan (Netcong, N.J.) defeated Ryan Fikslin (Landing, N.J.) (7-6)
133 - Tyler Milonas (Oak Ridge, N.J.) defeated Daniel Hilt (Manalapan, N.J.) (5-1)
141 - Steve Adamscik (Chester, N.J.) defeated Christopher Battaglia (Warren, N.J.) (8-0)
149 - Jack Barrett (Metuchen, N.J.) defeated Daniel Pedone (Charlotte, N.C.) (5-4)
157 - Christopher Norell (Phillipsburg, N.J.) defeated Jamie Lijo (Stanhope, N.J.) (7-4)
165 - Matt Pletcher (Eastampton, N.J.) defeated Matthew Rigoglioso (Wayne, N.J.) (3-1)
174 - Michael Whalen (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) defeated McPaul Ogbonna (East Hanover, N.J.) (3-1)
184 - Keith Dobish (Lodi, N.J.) defeated Christopher Orzechowski (Old Bridge, N.J.) (4-0)
197 - Lamar Brown (Red Bank, N.J.) defeated Abduel Karim Mahmoud (Wallington, N.J.) (3-1
Heavyweight - Dominick Russo III (Netcong, N.J.) defeated Mahmoud (7-6)
Members of the Rutgers wrestling team also participated in the Buffalo Open. In the 133-pound class, Tyler Milonas (Oak Ridge, N.J.) went 4-0 and won the championship by way of fall in the finals. He had two pins, a technical fall, and a 6-2 decision. Shawn Putnam (West Keansburg, N.J.) wrestled at 165-pounds and placed fifth, scoring a pin in his fifth match. Putnam was 3-2 on the day. Tom
