Dec 08 | Wrestling
COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The Rutgers wrestling team, under the guidance of first-year coach Scott Goodale, fell to No. 23 Maryland 39-4 in College Park, Md., on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Scarlet Knights fell to 0-3, 0-1 in the EIWA, while Maryland improved to 7-3.
After two major decision wins gave the Terps an 8-0 advantage, redshirt senior Steve Adamcsik (Chester, N.J.), ranked No. 19 in the 141-pound weight class, cut the lead in half with a 15-1 major decision over Jon Kohler. But Maryland would win the rest of the matches, despite close battles from Chris Norell (Phillipsburg, N.J.), who lost in overtime 7-5 to Brian Letters, and Matt Rigoglioso (Wayne, N.J.), who fell 4-1 to Mike McGill.
The Scarlet Knights will next take to the mat after the New Year, on Jan. 4, when they host Wagner and Lock Haven at College Ave. Gym, starting at 3:00p.m.
