PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers football team held its first of 15 practices of the spring Saturday inside Rutgers Stadium. The Scarlet Knights hit the field for just over two hours for the first time since the squad's 37-10 victory over Kansas State in the Texas Bowl last December.
The Scarlet Knights (11-2) finished 12th in the final collegiate rankings in 2006, return 14 starters and 36 letterwinners in 2007.
"The guys showed great passion and excitement in their first day back on the field," Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano said following Saturday's workout.
Schiano will be a featured guest on ESPN's "Outside the Lines" Sunday at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the impact of high school football players enrolling early and practicing in the spring at colleges across the country.
