Kennedy Shines at NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After the first day of competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the Rutgers women's swim team currently stands in 27th place. Junior Ashley Dunphy (Palm Springs, Calif.) and freshman Madison Kennedy (Avon, Conn.) led the way for Rutgers in the 50 free, while the 200 meter relay team also advanced to the finals.
Kennedy was the team's top finisher after the first day of competition, finishing in 14th place in the 50 meter freestyle finals with her time of 22.68. Dunphy swam a lifetime best in the same event with her time of 23.34. The 200 free relay team of Cat Whetstone (Haven Beach, N.J.), Sarah Bicknell (Bettendorf, Iowa), Kennedy and Dunphy finished 20th with a time of 132.11, a NCAA B cut time.
The second day of competition will be held on Friday, March 9, with the championships concluding on Saturday, March 10.
