NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Football Writers Association of America and AON Insurance announced their seventh annual Freshman All-America Team on Monday morning during the association's annual awards breakfast. Rutgers true freshman offensive guard Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.) was named to the team, the sixth Freshman All-America team Davis was named to following a standout season in 2007.
Davis, a true freshman, played in all 13 games, including eight starts at right guard. In his eight games starting at right guard, Rutgers averaged 213.6 rushing yards per game. RU averaged 173 rushing yards per game without Davis as a starter. The team also averaged 430.1 yards of total offense per game with Davis in the starting lineup.
Davis did not allow a sack this season for the Scarlet Knights. The entire RU offensive line allowed just 10 sacks on the year, the second-fewest total in the NCAA.
