RU Finishes Second at Knights Invitational

Hillsborough, N.J. - The Rutgers women's golf team placed second with a 654 (332-322) score at the Knights Invitational, played Monday and Tuesday, October 20-21, at Royce Brook Country Club. Freshman Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.), who has paced RU in every event thus far this fall season, continued her impressive rookie campaign, leading the team and placing tied for fourth with a 157 (82-75) total. Lee had four birdies in the tournament and was plus-one on par three scoring.
Sophomore Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) also placed among the top 20. Waters finished 11th with a 162 (83-79) and Mateer placed 16th with a 165 (83-82). Waters registered 18 pars in the tournament and was even on par five's.
Freshman Brooke Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) and Anne McNiel (Jacksonville, Fla.) comprised the rest of the Scarlet scorecard. Stepanek finished 21st with a 170 (84-86) and McNiel placed 23rd with a 172 (85-87).
Tournament host Fairleigh Dickinson defended its Invitational title. The Knights turned in a team score of 635 (318-317) at the par-72, 5935-yard course. Eight teams competed in the tournament, which marked the final event of the fall season for the Scarlet Knights. RESULTS
