Scarlet Knights Finish 8th at ECAC Championships

Williamsburg, Va. - The Rutgers women's golf team carded a two-round 646 (328-318) to finish eighth out of 17 teams at the ECAC Division I Women's Championships, played Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5, at Kiskiack Golf Course.Freshman Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.) paced the Scarlet Knights for the third time in four events this fall season, carding an 11-over par 155 (81-74) to finish 11th in the 90-player field.
Lee ranked tied for second in the Championship in par four scoring, with a 4.05 average. As a team, the Scarlet Knights performed best on par three's, ranking fourth with a 3.38 average. RU tallied 10 birdies collectively.
Freshman Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) also played well, especially on day one of the event. After shooting 78 on Saturday, she posted an 83 on Sunday to finish tied for 32nd with a 161 total. Sophomore Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) performed well on day two, carding a 79, to place tied for 49th with a 165. Sophomore Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) finished with a 168 (83-85) and freshman Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) totaled a 171 (89-82) to complete the Scarlet scorecard.
Princeton claimed the team title with a final score of 599 (309-290), 16 strokes better than second place St. John's. The Tigers' Susannah Aboff captured the individual title with three-under par 141, five strokes better than the nearest competitor.
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, return home to compete in the annual Rutgers Invitational, this upcoming Friday and Saturday (October 10-11), at the Rutgers University Golf Course.
