Rutgers Wrestling Ready for Lock Haven Duals

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers wrestling team (8-3, 3-0 EIWA) will compete in the Lock Haven Duals, Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Thomas Fieldhouse in Lock Haven, Pa. The Scarlet Knights will wrestle against EIWA foe East Stroudsburg (0-2), as well as non-conference opponents Drexel (1-4) and host-school Lock Haven (0-2).
The Scarlet Knights are coming off a successful weekend in which they defeated EIWA foes Franklin & Marshall 36-3 and Princeton 38-6, and then placed four wrestlers in the Nittany Lion Open. Freshman Trevor Melde (Hewitt, N.J.) and redshirt sophomore David Greenwald (Union, N.J.) placed second and third, respectively, at 141, while junior Keith Dobish (Lodi, N.J.) finished third at 184 and freshman Joey Langel (Howell, N.J.) took sixth at 125.
Rutgers has been led by redshirt sophomore DJ Russo (Netcong, N.J.), who has 18 wins in the heavyweight class. Freshman Scott Winston (Jackson, N.J.) is 16-4 at 157 and is ranked No. 18 by Amateur Wrestling News and No. 23 by WrestlingReport. Greenwald among the nation’s leaders with 12 pins on the season.
After wrestling on Sunday, Rutgers returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 20, when No. 9 Lehigh comes to the College Ave. Gym at 2:00 p.m.
