C. Vivian Stringer Named BCA Coach of the Week
Feb 13 | Women's Basketball
ORLANDO, Fla. - Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer was named the Black Coaches & Administrators Coach of the Week, it was announced by the BCA on Tuesday.
Stringer, in her 37th season of coaching and 13th at Rutgers, coached the Scarlet Knights to a 73-71 upset of then-No. 1 Connecticut on Feb. 5. RU dropped a hard-fought 59-58 decision at No. 1 Tennessee on Monday evening in Knoxville.
The Hall of Fame coach has raised her career total to 796 wins, four short of joining just two other women's basketball coaches with 800 wins. Stringer is the first coach - men's or women's - to lead three different teams to the Final Four. She was presented the BCA Life Time Achievement Award in 2004, and was honored during the 2007 BCA National Convention and Expo as the BCA Female Coach of the Year.
