EIWA Championships Brackets Set

LANCASTER, PA. - Members of the Rutgers wrestling team, under the guidance of first-year head coach Scott Goodale, will wrestle in the EIWA Championships, set to start on Saturday, March 8, and finish on Sunday, March 9, at the Mayser Center on the campus of Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, Pa.
At 125-pounds, Mike DeMarco (Lyndhurst, N.J.) will open against No. 6 seed Jasen Borschoff of American University. At 133-pounds, Dan Hilt (Manalapan, N.J.) will begin against Matt Mariacher of American University. In RU's 28-13 win over American on Feb. 10 at the College Ave. Gym, Mariacher defeated Hilt 7-1. At 141-pounds, the No. 3 seed Steve Adamcsik (Chester, N.J.) will square off against Lehigh's Jeff Santo. In the Scarlet Knights 28-13 loss at Lehigh on Nov. 30, Adamcsik earned a 13-4 major decision against Santo.
In Jack Barrett's (Metuchen, N.J.) first bout at 149, he will take on the No. 2 seed Trevor Chinn from Lehigh. At 157, No. 8 seed Chris Norrell (Phillipsburg, N.J.) will face Princeton's Martin Everin. At 165-pounds, No. 6 seed Matt Pletcher (Eastampton, N.J.) will square off against Franklin & Marshall's Andrew Smith. Pletcher earned a 7-1 decision over Smith in Rutgers 31-10 home victory over the Diplomats on Jan. 19. Mike Whalen (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) will open at 174 with the No. 3 seed Justin Herbert of Franklin & Marshall. Herbert defeated Whalen 4-1 when the two teams met on Jan. 19 at the College Ave. Gym.
In his first bout at 184-pounds, the No. 8 seed Keith Dobish (Lodi, N.J.) will take on Princeton's Anthony Salerno. At 197, No. 6 seed Lamar Brown (Red Bank, N.J.) will face the winner of No. 3 seed Nick Sommerfield from Columbia and Brown's Branden Stearns. Finally in the heavyweight division, Karim Mahmoud (Wallington, N.J.) will open against the No. 8 seed, Bucknell's George Hingson. A bout with No. 1 seed and the No. 4 ranked heavyweight wrestler in the nation, Navy's Ed Prendergast, awaits the winner.
