Rutgers Places 14th at Yale Spring Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Rutgers men's golf team shot a two round 607 (304-303) to place 14th at the Yale Spring Opener, played April 5-6 at The Course at Yale. Sophomore J.F. Sorbella (Port Chester, N.Y.) tallied a 150 (75-75) on the par 70, 6,749-yard course to lead the Scarlet Knights and place tied for 40th in the 148-player field.
Sorbella was especially strong on par three holes, where he was +1 overall for the tournament.
Sophomores James Arbes (Westfield, N.J.) and James Hillaire (Fishkill, N.Y.) also performed well for RU in the 27-team tournament. Arbes placed tied for 50th with a 151 (76-75) effort, while Hillaire finished tied for 57th with a 152 (74-78) total. Sophomore Jordan Gibbs (Princeton, N.J.) and junior Isaac Lim (Piscataway, N.J.) rounded out the Scarlet scorecard, placing tied for 73rd and tied for 111th, respectively.
Harvard took first in the tournament by shooting a team score of 585, two strokes better than second place Skidmore. Sacred Heart finished in the show position with a 588.
Not a single competitor was able to complete an under-par round. The winners, Jason Thresher of Bryant and Michael Shore of Harvard, finished three-over with scores of 143.
