Chris Gotterup Posts Strong Performance in Masters Debut

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Former Rutgers men's golfer and Little Silver, New Jersey native Chris Gotterup turned in a memorable Masters debut, finishing at 2-under par and tied for seventh after a strong and steady four-round performance at Augusta National. Gotterup is the first Scarlet Knight to complete a weekend at The Masters.
Rutgers men's golf head coach Rob Shutte took the trip to Augusta National and was on hand for his former Scarlet Knight's career performance.
Gotterup opened the tournament on Thursday with an even-par 72, showing early composure in his first round at Augusta to sit tied for 20th.
He made his move on Friday with one of the standout finishes of the day, birdieing holes 17 and 18 to post a 3-under 69 and climb the leaderboard into contention.

The former Scarlet Knight remained steady on Saturday, carding an even-par 72 to hold his position heading into the final round. An eagle on Saturday on the second hole was the highlight of the day.
Gotterup was spotted representing RU on the golf's greatest stage.

On Sunday, Gotterup closed his tournament with a 1-over-par round to finish the week at 2-under overall, capping off an impressive showing in his first trip to Augusta National.
In his first appearance at the Masters, Gotterup combined poise, timely shot-making, and a strong finish to deliver one of the most impressive debuts in the field, firmly establishing himself on one of golf's biggest stages.
