Scarlet Knights Place 13th at Princeton Invitational

RU sat in 15th place after the opening round, but improved by 13 strokes on Sunday to jump two positions in the final standings. Sixteen teams competed in the Invitational, contested on the par 72, 6,138-yard course.
Sophomore Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) played well on Sunday, shooting a 78 to rebound from an opening round 87, to finish tied for 53rd with a 165 total. Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) also showed improvement in round two. The freshman posted an 83, after opening with an 85, to finish tied for 59th with fellow RU rookie Sachiye Day (Alhambra, Calif.), who tallied 84's in both rounds. Sophomore Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) rounded out the team scorecard, totaling a 174 (86-88).
Harvard claimed the team title with a final score of 613 (302-311), two strokes better than second place Princeton. Georgetown's Chelsea Curtis and Renee Cloutier of St. John's shared the individual title with three-over par 147 scores. Curtis was one stroke better than Cloutier on Sunday to earn a share of the crown.
Rutgers, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, returns to the links to compete at the ECAC Invitational, October 4-5, in Williamsburg, Va.
