Rutgers Ranked 25th in Associated Press Top 25 Poll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 15, 2009) – For the first time since 2007, Rutgers is ranked No. 25 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 college football poll. The Scarlet Knights made their debut in the national rankings in 2009 after a 31-0 victory over then 24th-ranked USF last Thursday night at Rutgers Stadium.
The last time Rutgers was ranked occurred in 2007 as the Scarlet Knights spent seven weeks in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings. The Scarlet Knights were last ranked the week of Oct. 21, 2007 at No. 25 in the AP Top 25 poll.
With this week’s ranking, it marks the sixth year in Rutgers history the Scarlet Knights have been ranked at some point during the season. Rutgers also joined the rankings in 1958, 1961, 1976, 2006 and 2007.
The 25th-ranked Scarlet Knights return to action Saturday, November 21 at Syracuse. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. from the Carrier Dome with live coverage on ESPN360.com. The Rutgers Football Radio Network will begin its pre-game coverage at 2:30 p.m. on WOR-710 AM in New York City, WPHT-1210 AM in Philadelphia and South Jersey and WCTC-1450 in Central Jersey.
