RU Wrestlers Cocozzo, Winston Place at Nittany Lion Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Dec. 10, 2009) – Redshirt junior Daryl Cocozzo (River Edge, N.J.) and sophomore Scott Winston (Jackson, N.J) placed at the Nittany Lion Open this past Saturday at the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex.
Winston placed second in the 165-pound bracket and Cocozzo earned a fourth-place finish in the 157-pound group.
Winston went 4-1 at the event. The Scarlet Knight defeated No. 9 Dan Vallimont of host Penn State by a 9-3 score but fell to No.6 Nick Marable of Missouri in the finals by a 15-6 major decision.
Cocozzo picked up three convincing wins, including two major decisions, to set up a battle with No. 3 Cyler Sanderson from Penn State in the semifinals. Sanderson squeaked by Cocozzo with a 4-3 decision to advance to the finals.
