PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers golf coach Maura Ballard announced that Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Scarlet Knights. Weddell, who signed her NLI during the November early signing period, will enroll in the fall of 2009.
“Brittany has proven she can compete at a very high level in any type of competition,” said Ballard. “We are very excited to have an athlete of her caliber joining us next fall."
Weddell has amassed numerous accomplishments during her Prep career, including a victory in the 2008 Rutgers Girls Junior Open. She is the defending Massachusetts’ High School Girls’ Individual Champion and is a two-time national finalist for both the US Women’s Amateur Public Links and the US Girls Junior tournaments. Weddell also took home the prize of top amateur at the Massachusetts Women’s Open in 2008, where she placed third out of 90 players and shot a 74.
The Rutgers Women’s Golf team will open up their spring campaign in the Northern Illinois Snowbird Intercollegiate tournament in Tampa, Fla. on March 12-13.
