Scarlet Knights Sweep Lehigh, 7-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Rutgers women’s tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over Lehigh Thursday at the Lewis Tennis Center in Bethlehem, Pa. The Scarlet Knights swept all three doubles and all six singles matches en route to their first victory of the season.
Rutgers improves to 1-1 on the season after falling to Princeton in its opening match of the season, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-2 on the year.
Sophomore Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas), who led all Scarlet Knights last season in singles victories and total wins, defeated Ariela Cohen 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. RU also picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles as both Katherine Arlak (Leonia, N.J.) and Jennifer Holzberg (Easton, Conn.) won in straight sets.
Maryana Milchutskey (Holmdel, N.J.) picked up her first singles victory of the season at the No. 4 spot as she fought back after dropping the opening set 6-3. The freshman battled back to win both the second and third sets 6-2 to claim the victory.
Caitlin Baker (Altoona, Pa.) and Leonora Slatnick (Austin, Texas) wrapped up the RU singles sweep by claiming victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.
The Scarlet Knights were 3-0 in doubles action, including an 8-2 victory at No.1 singles by Arlak and junior Christine Tran (Centreville, Va.).
The Scarlet Knights will next be in action on Feb. 7 at Army. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
