Rutgers Earns 11th Place at Hoya Invitational

BEALLSVILLE, Md. - The Rutgers women's golf team placed 11th at the Hoya Women's Invitational, hosted by the Georgetown University at the par-72, 6,127 yard Members Club at Four Streams.
Battling chilly, adverse weather conditions and howling winds, the Scarlet Knights carded a 1007 (350-38-319) for the event, playing their best golf in the latter two rounds. Nova Southeastern, the No.1 ranked team in Division II, won the event with 916 team score, with Princeton shooting a 941 to finish second.
Sophomore Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) played brilliant golf, tying for 12th place in the field of 76 players with an overall score of 237 (82-79-76). Freshman Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) posted the second-best total for RU, compiling a 249 (91-81-76). Sophomore Daley Owens (Taylorsville, N.J.) was third on the Rutgers scorecard, shooting 90-88-82 to record a 260 and tie for 62nd place Freshman Brooke Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) finished one stroke back of Owens, shooting a 261 (87-90-84) and finishing 64th.. Sophomore Sachiye Day (Alhambra, Calif.) rounded out the RU contingent with a score of 278 and a tie for 78th place.
The Rutgers women's golf team will be next hit the links the weekend of April 19-21, when they head south to Tampa, Fla. to compete in the BIG EAST Conference Championships. RESULTS
