Epiphanny Prince Earns All-American Honors

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers University guard Epiphanny Prince was selected to the Associated Press All-America third team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. A 45-member national media panel, who vote in the weekly Top 25 poll, select the 15 individuals that make up the three squads.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. product is the first RU player to earn back-to-back honors. Former RU standout Cappie Pondexter was a first team AP All-America selection in 2006 and was a third team honoree in 2004.
Prince led the team and was third in the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game. She was ranked third among league leaders in steals (2.6) and was fourth in free throw percentage (.806). Prince finished second in the conference in minutes played, averaging 37.0 per game.
The third-year player compiled 33 double-digit scoring games, including a string of 29 straight. She recorded 16 contests with 20 or more points and had 15 or more in 26 games.
Prince became the program’s all-time single-season leader in free throws made this season (367), passing former All-American Sue Wicks. In addition, she boasted the sixth-best single season scoring effort in RU women’s basketball history. Prince moved up the RU career scoring chart, closing the season in ninth place all-time (1,552 points).
Heading into her senior season in 2009-10, Prince is ranked in the top-10 in the RU record book in steals, free throws made and attempted, free throw percentage, three-point field goals made and attempted and three-point field goal percentage.
