RU 17th at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Rutgers women's golf team is in 17th place with a 661 (340-321) score after the first two days of the Lady Paladin Invitation, played at the Furman University Golf Course. Junior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.) lead the Scarlet Knights with 163 totals to stand tied for 63rd.
Waters carded a 77 on Saturday, the team's top round of the event so far.
True freshman Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.), competing in first position for RU, posted a 78 on day two and is tied for 69th with a 164 total. Sophomore Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and junior Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) comprise the rest of the scorecard. Carl is tied for 86th with a 172 and Owens is 93rd with a 178.
Sandra Changkija (75-72=147) fired an even-par 72 to help Nova Southeastern (306-305=611), the defending Division II national champions, take sole possession of the lead after two rounds. Campbell (315-300=615) is four strokes back in second place while Furman (320-297=617) trails the Sharks by six strokes after 36 holes. Stetson, East Tennessee State, East Carolina, UNC Greensboro, Kennesaw State, UNC Wilmington and Florida International round out the top 10.
Saturday's second round, like Friday's 18 holes, was played with wet course conditions and periods of rain throughout the day. With 18 holes remaining, 30 golfers are within nine strokes of the leader and seven teams are within 16 strokes of the tournament leading Sharks.
Sunday's third and final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. RESULTS
