
Scarlet Knights Defeat Seton Hall in Dual Match

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 8, 2010) – The Rutgers women's golf team defeated BIG EAST rival Seton Hall 308-350 in a dual match Friday at the Rutgers University Golf Course. Senior team captain Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) paced the Scarlet Knights and captured the individual crown with a two-over 74 on the par 72, 6,057-yard course.
Junior Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) also performed well, carding a 76. Sophomore Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.), junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and sophomore Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) comprised the rest of the RU scorecard. Weddell shot 78, and Carl and Cash carded 80’s. Lauren Heiba (Bridgewater, N.J.) played as an individual and turned-in a 92.
Seton Hall was led by Hannah Basilone, who carded a 77. Haley Van Es shot 82, Samantha Massei posted a 90, Stacie Ballou shot 101 and Nicole Longobarto carded a 108 for the Pirates. Erica Fitzpatrick played as an individual for SHU and turned-in a 116.
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of Director of Golf Maura Waters-Ballard, return to the links next weekend (October 15-16) at the Rutgers Invitational.
