
Rutgers Swimming & Diving Hosts Frank Elm Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Rutgers swimming and diving plays host to 15 squads for the Frank Elm Invite this Friday-Sunday, Nov. 19-21, at the RU Aquatic Center. Action starts at 9:30 a.m. each day with finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Scarlet Knights (1-3, 1-3) welcome Pittsburgh, Central Connecticut, Columbia, Delaware, Fordham, LaSalle, Sacred Heart, Wagner, TCNJ, Bucknell, and Saint Francis. Yale, Colgate, Boston University and Drexel will bring their diving squads to the competition.
Last weekend, RU was bested by BIG EAST foe West Virginia in Morgantown. The Scarlet Knights held a 144-133 lead coming into the final relay. Junior Brianne Lindblad (Kent, Wash.) won the 100 back (57.65) and 200 back (2:07.38) individually and aided the 400 medley relay to a first-place finish, swimming the first split in 27.41.
On the diving side, Nicole Scott (Toronto, Canada) won the one meter board with a score of 284.17. Katie Kearney (Mahwah, N.J.) came in second with 265.80 points. Scott also won the three meter (278.02), while Jen Betz (Ivyland, Pa.) took second (264.00).
In 2008, Rutgers hosted the Frank Elm Super Splash, coming in first, 78 points ahead of runner-up Fordham. Lindblad and Megan Caylor (Kenmore, Wash.) posted a 1-2 RU finish in the 100 yard backstroke. Lindblad touched in at 56.99, while Caylor ended the race at 58.02.
