Maxoutopoulis to Compete for Scarlet Knights

PISCATAWAY , N.J. (November 19, 2010) – Rutgers University Director of Golf Maura Waters-Ballard announced Friday that Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Scarlet Knights. Ranked 115th nationally on the junior golf scoreboard for the class of 2011 with a scoring differential of 2.77, Maxoutopoulis placed third with partner Tom Kite at the 2010 First Tee Open at prestigious Pebble Beach.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Kortnie into the program,” said Waters-Ballard. “Not only is she a gifted golfer, but she is very well-rounded young lady. Kortnie has the potential to accomplish exceptional things, both on and off the course, here at Rutgers University.”
Maxoutopoulis is an established and successful high school and junior golfer who has competed at a national level to include AJGA, FCWT, USGA, NCGA (Northern California Golf Association), First Tee and JGANC (Junior Golf of Northern California) golf events.
Currently a senior at Foothill High School with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average, she is President of Junior Golf of Northern Golf Association, a Junior Advisor Committee member and a member of the California Scholarship Federation.
In addition to her athletic and academic success, Maxoutopoulis is also very involved in community outreach initiatives. Her community involvement includes volunteering with the Open Heart Kitchen, National Charity League, assisting with Special Olympic Athletes, Vacation Bible Camp and supporting the Pleasanton summer library program.
