
Jenna Zito Earns All-EAGL Honors

DURHAM, N.H. (March 26, 2010) – Rutgers freshman gymnast Jenna Zito (Rockaway, N.J.) was a East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Second Team All-Around selection, the league announced Friday evening at its awards banquet on the campus of the University of New Hampshire prior to Saturday’s EAGL Championship.
Zito has competed in the all-around in all but one event this season, missing the Scarlet Knights’ last meet at North Carolina. The freshman is expected to return for the EAGL Championship. Zito owns the best all-around score on the team with an average of 37.876. The Scarlet Knight is averaging a 9.664 in the floor exercise. She scored a career-best 38.475 in the all-around to place third in a home quad meet against Bridgeport, William & Mary and Southern Connecticut State in February. She also posted career-best scores in the floor exercise (9.850) and on the vault (9.800) to tie for second and third in, respectively, in the quad meet. The freshman matched her top score of 9.850 in the floor exercise in her most recent competition at home against Bridgeport, Towson and Yale.
The EAGL Championship will take place inside Lundholm Gymnasium on the campus of the University of New Hampshire, Saturday at 2 p.m.
