RU 8th after Opening Day of UC Invitational

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL - The Rutgers women's golf team is in eighth place with a 624 (315-309) team total after the opening day of the UC Spring Invitational, played Friday at Elks Run Golf Course. Freshman Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) led the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a 154 (77-77) on the par 72, 6,032-yard course to enter Saturday tied for 15th in the 100-player field.
Sophomore Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) also played well in the 18-team event, shooting a 155 (79-76) to sit tied for 23rd. Sophomore Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.) and junior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) both tallied identical rounds on Friday, posting 81s in the morning and 78s in the afternoon to place tied for 48th with 159 scores. Junior Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) rounded-out the team scorecard with a 166 (78-88).
Illinois is in first place after day one with a 592. Stetson is six strokes off the lead in second place, with Montana in the show position at 601.
The third and final round of the Invitational, hosted by Cincinnati, will begin Saturday via a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. RESULTS
