RU Eighth After Opening Day of Hoya Invitational

BEALLSVILLE, MD - The Rutgers women's golf team is in eighth place with a 321 score after the opening round of the 17-team Hoya Invitational, played Monday at Four Streams. Junior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a two-over 74 on the 6,127-yard course to enter Tuesday in third place in the 90-player field.
Waters was minus one in par three and par five scoring, while posting 13 pars on the afternoon.
Sophomore Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.) also competed well, posting an 81 to sit tied for 33rd. Freshman Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and sophomore Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) both registered 83 and are tied for 46th. Sophomore Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) rounded-out the scorecard with an 86.
Nova Southeastern is in first place with a 303. Maryland and Yale are tied for second, five strokes off the lead at 308. Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern is the individual leader after carding an even par 72 on Monday.
The second and final round of the event will tee-off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. The opening day of the event was scheduled for 36 holes, but was limited to 18 due to poor weather conditions. RESULTS
