RU Places Ninth at Hoya Invitational

BEALLSVILLE, MD (March 30, 2010) - The Rutgers women's golf team placed ninth with a 650 (321-329) total at the 17-team Hoya Invitational, played Monday and Tuesday (March 29-30) at Four Streams. Junior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 153 (74-79) on the 6,127-yard course to finish tied for fourth in the 90-player field.
Waters was minus-two in par five scoring to lead the tournament in that category. She also had four birdies and 24 pars in the 36-hole event.
Freshman Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) played well on the par 72 course, carding a 164 (83-81) to finish tied for 34th. Sophomore Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) had a 165 (83-82) to finish tied for 39th and sophomore Kristina Lee (Haddonfield, N.J.) posted a 171 (81-90) to place 59th. Sophomore Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) rounded-out the scorecard with a 174 (86-87).
Nova Southeastern captured first with a 612 score. Maryland was four shots off the lead to finish in second place. BIG EAST foes Georgetown (647) and St. Johns (670) placed sixth and 11th, respectively. Nova Southeastern's Sandra Changkija captured individual medalist honors with a one-under 143 (72-71).
