Rutgers Third After Opening Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. (September 11, 2010) - The Rutgers women's golf team is in third place with a 616 (306-310) team score after the opening day of the Bucknell Invitational, played Saturday at the Bucknell Golf Club. The host Bison lead the 18-team event with 607 (303-304) total, five strokes ahead of second place William & Mary and nine strokes ahead of the Scarlet Knights.
Senior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) and junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) paced RU through the initial 36 holes with 149 efforts on the par 70, 6,006 yard course. Waters had an opening round 71 and followed with a 78. Carl carded the opposite, posting a second round 71 after a 78 to start the fall season.
Sophomore Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.), competing in her first event for the Scarlet Knights, shot a 157 (75-82) to enter Sunday's final round tied for 22nd. Sophomore Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and senior Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) comprised the rest of the RU scorecard. Weddell is tied for 32nd with a 161 (82-79) and Owens is tied for 59th with a 173 (87-86).
Bucknell's Minjoo Lee is the individual leader in the 90-player field with a 147 (76-71).
The third and final round commences Sunday morning with first tee scheduled for 8:30 a.m. RESULTS
