
Rutgers 10th after Day One of Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (September 18, 2010) -The Rutgers women’s golf team is in 10th place with a 643 (327-316) score after the initial 36 holes of the Princeton Invitational, played Saturday at Springdale Golf Club. Junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a 156 (79-77) on the par 72, 6,108-yard course to enter Sunday tied for 30th.
Sophomore Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) also performed well in the 12-team event, posting a 159 (80-79) to sit tied for 38th in the 65-player field.
Senior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.), sophomore Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and junior Lauren Heiba (Bridgewater, N.J.) comprised the rest of the RU competing five. Waters is tied for 44th with a 163 (84-79), Cash is tied for 49th with a 165 (84-81) and Heiba is 63rd with a 185 (94-91).
Yale leads the tournament with a 594, two strokes better than the host Tigers. Individually, Seo Hee Moon of Yale is in first with a two-under 142, one stroke better than Kelly Shon of Princeton.
The third and final round of the 54-hole Invitational is slated to tee-off Sunday at 8:00 a.m.
