Rutgers Places 10th at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (September 19, 2010) -The Rutgers women's golf team placed 10th with a 965 (327-316-322) score at the Princeton Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at Springdale Golf Club. Junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 232 (79-77-76) on the par 72, 6,108-yard course to finish tied for 26th.
Carl, who improved her score with each round, had 32 pars on the weekend.
Sophomore Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) also performed well in the 12-team event, posting a 241 (80-79-82) to place tied for 40th in the 65-player field. Weddell had one of four eagles recorded in the tournament.
Senior captain Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.), sophomore Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and junior Lauren Heiba (Bridgewater, N.J.) comprised the rest of the RU competing five. Waters tied for 43rd with a 242 (84-79-79), Cash finished 52nd with a 250 (84-81-85) and Heiba tied for 62nd with a 276 (94-91-91).
Yale won the tournament with an 896, three strokes better than the host Tigers (899). Individually, Seo Hee Moon of Yale captured individual medalist honors with a three-under 213, five stroke better than second place Kelly Shon of Princeton. Eight of the top nine finishers in the Invitational hailed from the Ivy League.
Rutgers, under the leadership of Director of Golf Maura Waters-Ballard, returns to the links at the Penn State Invitational, to be played October 2-3 in State College, Pa. FINAL STATS FINAL RESULTS
