
Rutgers 10th after Day One of Rainbow Wahine Invitational

Kapolei, Hawaii - The Rutgers women's golf team is in 10th place with a 626 (323-303) team score after two rounds of the inaugural Rainbow Wahine Invitational, played Tuesday at Kapolei Golf Course. RU junior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) carded a 154 (81-73) on day one and is tied for 30th against some of the nation's top collegiate programs.
Freshman Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) and senior Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) also performed well and are among the top competitors. Maxoutopoulis is tied for 32nd with a 156 (78-78) and Mateer is tied for 41st with a 157 (81-76).
Senior team captain Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and junior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) rounded-out the team scorecard on day one. Carl is tied for 48th with a 159 (83-76) and Cash is tied for 61st with a 170 (88-82).
Senior Lauren Heiba (Bridgewater, N.J.) competing as an individual, turned-in a 179 (92-87) and is 64th.
UCLA, the nation's top-ranked program by Golfweek, has the lead after posting a 10-under par 566 (288-278). Eleventh-ranked Washington and Florida International are tied for second with 584 team scores. Also competing is host Hawaii, Brigham Young, Cal State Fullerton, Mercer, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Stanford and Utah Valley.
UCLA's Lee Lopez is the top individual with a five under par 139 (68-71).
The 54 hole tournament concludes on Wednesday with one additional round on the par-72, 6,140-yard course.
