
RU 14th Entering Final Round of Cincinnati Spring Invitational

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL – The Rutgers women’s golf team is in 14th place with a 626 (312-314) team score after the first two rounds of the Cincinnati Spring Invitational, Played Friday and Saturday at Plantation Golf Resort. Junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) paces the Scarlet Knights through 36 holes, with a 153 (75-78) tally to sit tied for 32nd.
Senior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) is also among the top 50 in the 121-player field. The team captain enters Sunday’s final round tied for 47th with a 156 (77-79).
Sophomores Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and junior Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) comprise the remainder of the team scorecard. Cash is tied for 65th with 158 (80-78), Weddell is tied for 73rd with a 159 (80-79) and Mateer is tied for 105th with a 170 (83-87).
Morehead State is in first place with a 591 team total, two strokes better than second place North Texas in the 23-team event. Individually, Florida Southern’s Marianne Anderson (72-70) and Steton’s Alex Buelow (73-69) are tied for the lead with 142 on their scorecards.
The third and final round begins on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
