
RU Places 17th at Cincinnati Spring Invitational

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL - The Rutgers women's golf team finished 17th with a 954 (312-314-328) team score at the Cincinnati Spring Invitational, played Friday through Sunday at Plantation Golf Resort. Junior Lizzy Carl (Mendota Heights, Minn.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 235 (75-78-82) to place tied for 53rd.
Senior Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) also performed well. The team captain shot a 236 (77-79-80) to finish tied for 56th in the 121-player field.
Sophomores Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and junior Elisa Mateer (Marmora, N.J.) comprised the remainder of the team scorecard. Weddell (80-79-85) and Cash (80-78-86) both tied for 87th with 244 totals, while Mateer placed tied for 98th with a 251 (83-87-81).
North Texas won the 23-team event with an 882 (301-292-289), 13 strokes better than second place Morehead State (290-301-304=895). Florida Gulf Coast's Briana Carlson captured individual medalist honors with a 211 (74-70-67).
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of Director of Golf Maura Waters-Ballard, return to the links for the Georgetown Hoya Invitational, held April 4-5 in Beallsville, Md. RESULTS
