Sykes Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 9, 2012) - Rutgers women's basketball senior guard April Sykes (Starkville, Miss.) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Sykes averaged a team-leading 12.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, guiding the Scarlet Knights to a 2-0 start in BIG EAST action. The senior poured in 14 points, in addition to seven boards and four steals in a 55-44 victory against Syracuse.
Sykes continued her contributions on Saturday with her third double-double of the season and the fourth of her career with 11 points and a career-tying 11 rebounds in a 58-47 win over Cincinnati. The guard also chipped in a season-high four assists against the Bearcats.
Sykes leads the team in scoring this season with 14.6 per contest, ranking 11th in the conference.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Tuesday, at 7 p.m. against Pittsburgh, in their first BIG EAST road game of the season.
