
Rutgers tied for 9th at Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, S.C. - The Rutgers women's golf team is tied for ninth with a 318 score after the first round of the 14-team Lady Paladin Invitational, played Friday at the Furman University Golf Course. Sophomore Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a five-over par 77 to enter Saturday's second round tied for 21st in the 79-player field.
Maxoutopoulis was even in par three scoring on the 6,266-yard course.
Freshman Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) was also among the top competitors. She carded a 79 and sits tied for 35th with three birdies.
Seniors Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.), and freshman Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.), comprised the rest of the team scorecard. Weddell is tied for 44th with an 80, Cash is tied for 58th with an 82 and Chambers is tied for 72nd with an 87. Weddell has 12 pars.
Nova Southeastern is in first place with a 297, five strokes better than host Furman.
The 54-hole tournament resumes Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
