
Due to Impending Weather Rutgers Withdraws at Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, S.C. – Due to the impending weather and air travel cancellations, the Rutgers women’s golf team withdrew from the final round of the 14-team Lady Paladin Invitational, which was slated to begin Sunday morning. The event was the final tournament of the fall season for the Scarlet Knights.
RU was in seventh place with a 627 (318-309) score after the first two rounds, played Friday and Saturday at the Furman University Golf Course.
Sophomore Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) carded a three-under 69 on Saturday and entered Sunday’s final round tied for 2nd with a 146 (77-69) in the 79-player field. Maxoutopoulis was a tournament-best minus one in par three scoring with 24 pars and five birdies on the 6,266-yard course.
Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) were also among the top competitors. Both were tied for 31st with 158 totals. Weddell, who was even in par five scoring, posted a 78 on Saturday after an 80 on Friday. Moyal, who had five birdies, shot 79 in both rounds.
Senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.), and freshman Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.), comprised the rest of the team scorecard. Cash was 67th with a 168 (82-86) and Chambers was 70th with a 170 (87-83).
