
Rutgers Places 9th at Yale Intercollegiate

New Haven, Conn. (September 23) - The Rutgers women's golf team placed ninth with a 932 (316-299-317) score at the 16-team Yale Intercollegiate, played Friday through Sunday at The Course at Yale. Sophomore Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) paced the Scarlet Knights once again, carding a 219 (74-71-74) to finish tied for sixth in the 87-player field.
Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) complemented Maxoutopoulis by shooting a 219 (78-76-76) on the par 72, 5,901-yard course. She placed tied for 30th.
Senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and freshmen Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.) and Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) comprised the rest of the team scorecard. Cash tied for 52nd with a 241 (81-79-81), Chambers tied for 56th with a 244 (83-75-86) and Moyal tied for 68th with a 252 (83-77-92).
Nova Southeastern won the Invitational with an 859 (292-281-286), 26 strokes better than second place Penn State. NSU boasted the top three individuals, including tournament champion Daniela Ortiz, who carded a 207 (73-67-67).
Rutgers, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, returns to the links October 5-6 at the Rutgers Invitational.
