
Kroft Added to Mackey Award Midseason Watch List

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 15, 2013) - Rutgers tight end Tyler Kroft (Downingtown, Pa.) was added to the 2013 John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List, the organization announced Tuesday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
Kroft, a sophomore, has scored a touchdown in three straight games and his last 14 receptions have either gone for a first down or a score. For the season, he has 18 catches for 268 yards (14.9 yards per reception).
He is sixth nationally among tight ends in receiving yards.
Kroft earned distinction from the same organization last month, being named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week after posting a career-high sixreceptions and 133 yards in the victory over Arkansas. He was the first RU tight end since Clark Harris in the 2006 Texas Bowl to post 100 yards receiving in a game.
The 2013 John Mackey recipient will be presented live on Dec. 12, 2013 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show: 6 p.m. on ESPNU. Other key dates include the announcement of the 2013 Mackey Semifinalists on Nov. 18, 2013 and the 2013 Mackey Finalists on Nov. 25, 2013.
