
Scarlet Knights 14th at Hoosier Invitational

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Rutgers women’s golf is 14th with a 311 team score after the opening round of the 15-team Hoosier Invitational, played Saturday at the par 71 Hickory Stick Golf Club. Sophomore Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.) and freshman Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding five-over 76’s, to enter Sunday tied for 28th in the 96-player field.
The second round of the tournament was scheduled to be played Saturday, but was halted due to darkness. The remainder of the second round and the final third round will be completed on Sunday.
Sophomore Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.), freshman Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) and sophomore Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) comprise the rest of the Scarlet scorecard. Moyal is tied for 58th with a 79, Gedeon is tied for 70th with an 80 and Sacheli is tied for 90th with an 84.
Purdue is in first place with a 293, three strokes ahead of second place UC-Davis. Illinois is in the show position with a 298. Purdue’s Vinh Hoa Hgo is atop the leaderboard with a four-under par 67.
