
Rutgers Women's Golf 8th at BIG EAST Championship

ORLANDO, FL - The Rutgers women’s golf team is eighth with a 622 (304-318) team score after two rounds at the BIG EAST Championship, played Sunday and Monday at Reunion Resort. Freshman Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) is 14th in the 40-player field with 151 (72-79).
Moyal is even in both par three and par five scoring and has six birdies.
Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and freshman Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.) are also among the top 30 competitors. Weddell, who has 21 pars, is tied for 26th with a 156 (76-80).
Chambers, who is minus one in par five scoring, is also tied for 26th with a 156 (79-77).
Senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and freshman Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) round-out the Scarlet scorecard. Cash is tied for 36th with a 160 (77-83) and Sacheli is 40th with a 169 (87-82).
Notre Dame leads the field (579, +3) by one stroke over Louisville (580, +4). The Fighting Irish rebounded from a 294 (+6) in the first round to shoot a 285 (-3) on Monday.
Emily Hass recorded a tournament-low 68 (-4) in round two to take the individual lead. The sophomore paces the Cardinals with a 140 (-4).
The 2013 BIG EAST Women’s Golf Championship continues tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
