
Rutgers Women's Golf Places 8th at BIG EAST Championship

ORLANDO, FL - The Rutgers women's golf team placed eighth with a 929 (304-318-307) team score at the BIG EAST Championship, played Sunday through Tuesday at Reunion Resort. Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) capped her RU career in style, placing tied for 14th in the 40-player field with a 227 (76-80-71).
Weddell saved her best for last, posting a 71 on Tuesday. She had seven birdies and 31 pars for the tournament.
Freshman Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) also placed among the top 20 competitors. She finished tied for 17th with 230 (72-79-79). Moyal was plus one in par three scoring and had seven birdies.
Freshman Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.), senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) and freshman Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) rounded-out the Scarlet scorecard. Chambers was 30th with a 235 (79-77-79), Cash tied for 37th with a 238 (77-83-78) and Sacheli was 40th with a 250 (87-82-81).
Notre Dame won the Championship with a score of 861 (294-285-282) to finish three under par. The Fighting Irish were led by freshmen Talia Campbell (210, 72-69-69) and Lindsey Weaver (210, 71-70-69) who were named co-individual champions. Notre Dame's players all finished in the individual top 15.
Louisville was the runner-up with a team score of 875 (287-293-295) to finish eleven over par.
