Pondexter & Prince Selected For WNBA All-Star Game

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 19, 2013) - Two former Scarlet Knight guards will get the starting nods for the Eastern Conference at the 2013 Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game, it was announced on Thursday by the league. New York Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter and Chicago Sky guard Epiphanny Prince were among the top vote getters to star in the game to be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. on Sat., July 27th.
Pondexter led all Eastern Conference guards with 18,265 votes, en route to earning her fifth All-Star selection (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011) and second career start.
Pondexter leads the Liberty in scoring with 17.9 points per game, which ranks sixth in the WNBA. She is also averaging 4.9 rebounds and a team-best 3.6 assists per game. Pondexter has scored in double figures in 13 games this season, including five 20-point outings.
Prince, who was an All-Star in 2011, received 16,083 to capture a guard spot on the Eastern Conference All-Star roster. This will be her first All-Star start. Prince sits fourth in the league in three-point percentage (44.6%) and free-throw percentage (91.7%). She also is ranked eighth in total three-points made (25).
The 2013 Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game, hosted by the Connecticut Sun, will broadcast live on ABC at 3:30 p.m.
